The Black Swamp Herb Society was established in 1992 starting with 15 members. Today members and volunteers maintain four traditional herb gardens and other smaller theme garden behind the Wood County Historical Museum. Each garden includes a small path from which one can explore the many different scents and looks of herbs and perennials that make each garden so unique.

Our purpose is to further the knowledge and the use of herbs and to promote fellowship among those interested in all aspects of herbs; and to serve the community through our projects.

Informational material in the gardens is intended as educational only. The Black Swamp Herb Society does not intend to administer medical advice and/or diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
